ZACK MOSLEY'S SMILIN' JACK began in the Sunday Chicago Tribune and New York News on October 2, 1933 as ON THE WING. A few weeks later, Captain Joe Patterson, founder of the New York News and Chicago Tribune Syndicate, changed the title to SMILIN' JACK on December 30, 1933. From then on the feature was gradually sold to other papers acround the world. Then, to tie in with the SMILIN' JACK Sunday, ZACK MOSLEY started drawing the SMILIN' JACK daily, debuting on June 6, 1936. During the mid-thirties through the mid-sixties, SMILIN JACK' was syndicated to more that 300 daily and Sunday newspapers with a combined circualtion of over 25,000,000!

SUNDAYS & DAILIES - 12/28/1938 to 05/19/1940

This time around Zack Mosley introduces one of his great female villains - the diabolical Madam Mongoose, leader of a group of saboteurs. Her target is military equipment especially anything aeronautical, which brings her in direct contact with Jack. But it turns out the Mongoose's main obsession is Smilin' Jack himself, with a personal score to settle!

The real test of their marraige comes when Joy surprises Jack with the baby bullet . . .

THE SEARCH: Joy has disappeared while attempting to fly over the Carriggean. An all out search is launched by the Coast Guard, who sight from wreckage from her plane. But no sign of Joy . . .

LOST LOVE: Jack is devasted by the news, the shock of losing his bride is too much - he feels guilty - blames himself for what has happened. Finally he decides to get away from it all. Against the objections of Downwind and Fatstuff, he boards his plane and takes off for new horizions and a new adventure!
