Ham Fisher's JOE PALOOKA started in 45 newspapers, and, at its peak, claimed to have been running in 4600 papers worldwide, said to have an audience of over 100,000,000 readers! Joe Palooka was an overnight success - his gentle character, his championing of the little fellow and his inherent honest was soon recognized by everyone. And his clean sportmanship and fight for decency and fair play had a tremendous effect on the sport of boxing. In many states where boxing was outlawed, Palooka's influence caused it to be reinstated.
